Happy Sunday friends!!!! You know what that means…it’s #scripturesunday!!! Yay Yay!! Today I thought I would talk about something that has been on my heart throughout my entire sophomore year…finding my gifts & strengths through what God has given me.
During one of my quiet times, Jesus brought me to Romans 12:3-8. Which says
“3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
I encourage you to read this a couple of times to yourself and soak in God’s wise words.
For me when I read these verses it really settled my heart on how God has given each of us a unique gift. God created some of us to be encouragers to the Body of Christ, God created some to be teachers of His Word, God created some to be missionaries to ends of the Earth, God created some to sing to the congreagtion, the list goes on & on. It is so amazing how God has given us each different gifts and talents to spread the Gospel to others.
Verses 7-8, has been a foundation for my sophomore year. I strongly believe these verses are what God has called me to do with my time on Earth. I hope to be an encourager to others, just like Jesus is an encourager to me every day. I hope I can teach God’s word to those around me. I hope to serve God’s kingdom in any way I can. Through God’s power, I can use my gifts he gave me.
I pray if you have not found your personal gifts in Christ, that you would this week. Sometimes our gifts are a clear answer & sometimes you have to search. Whatever the circumstance may be, God gave you a very special gift.
